Communi-Tea & Biscuits

Loneliness in rural communities in the UK is a significant issue that has gained attention in recent years.  Rural areas often have smaller populations, limited public transportation, and fewer community resources compared to urban areas, making it challenging for individuals to connect with others and combat feelings of loneliness.

It is important to remember that feeling lonely can happen to anyone, old or young, happy or sad. You don’t even have to be alone to feel lonely.  Loneliness can be debilitating and is linked to a higher risk of depression, cognitive decline, stroke and heart disease.  Research suggests that loneliness is as harmful to our health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day!*

Our regular Tuesday ‘Communi-Tea & Biscuits’ afternoons are designed to get people in the community together to chat, laugh, offer support and, of course, enjoy a nice cup of tea (or another beverage of your choice).  It’s about embracing the power of being together.  You don’t have to be lonely to come along but we hope to offer some support to those in our community who occasionally feel a bit isolated.

Please pop in and say hello. You will be very welcome.
